Preparing students for the 11th-grade CAASPP is a shared effort that begins well before students reach eleventh grade, as math standards from multiple courses will be assessed. Next Gen Math helps teachers understand what students need to learn in each course and which standards to prioritize as they prepare for the assessment.

Within each high-school course, Next Gen Math gives teachers two complementary views of question stems for the standards:
- Course Standards: A comprehensive view of the standards students are expected to learn in their course.
- 11th-Grade CAASPP Priority Standards: A focused view of the standards identified as priorities for 11th-grade CAASPP preparation.
Teachers can continue teaching the full course curriculum while using the focused standards view to guide additional practice, reinforce essential skills, and target areas where students need support.
